We recently went digging into our closet to pull out some more copies of our fine art book – Lobster Island – to send out, and realized that we’re down to the final boxes!
Holy smokes! It’s been a pretty amazing sight to see these go off into the mail, sharing our experience documenting lobster fishing in Prince Edward Island. It’s not something we ever thought we’d actually witness – a book of our own, being shared with others. And to say it’s been a rewarding journey is to put it mildly!
And now that we’re down to the last copies, we wanted to share it again with you all. Promoting our own work has been one of our weak points over the years, and you may not have even known we did this project! :)
So if you haven’t taken a peek yet, you can head over to www.lobsterisland.co to check out the photos, videos and stories we created when we visited beautiful Prince Edward Island, on the East Coast of Canada.
Only 100 Copies of Our Book Left
As I was saying, we’re down to the final books – the last 100 in fact. And chances are that they aren’t going to be reprinted, so this is the very last time we’re going to be offering these printed pieces! It’s bittersweet for us, but as much as we’ve loved sharing the magic of Prince Edward Island, we’re ready to move on to the next project!
So, for a limited time, you can grab a signed copy of Lobster Island, the first (and so far only!) physical book we’ve ever made. We poured our hearts into this one, and are really proud of the results. There are photos, stories, and even delicious family recipes!
As a bonus, you also will get a stunning 8×10 black and white print, printed by Rob himself. This is one of our favourite images, and hangs in our hallway! So it’s a pretty sweet package!
The book WITH the print is only CDN$30 (+shipping)! Double sweet!
Take a spin over to the site, enjoy yourself some lobster culture, and then pick up a copy of the book! We’ll add some extra love and thank-you vibes to your copy! :)
Documentary Photography Tutorial Sale – 30% Off!
When we started this project, we were both overwhelmed with ideas and generally unsure what we were getting ourselves into.
And there were definitely times where we thought we had made a really big mistake.
But we pushed through the tough times, figured out how to overcome all the challenges, and wound up finishing what we set out to do. While we love the photos and videos we created, simply finishing the project is probably what we’re most proud of!
We knew that there were other photographers out there, with documentary projects they dreamt of doing, but weren’t sure how to make it happen. So we wrote down everything we did, and learned, in the process of making Lobster Island, in hopes that it would help others achieve their own dreams, and bring their ideas to life!
The result is a 104 page eBook called How We Did It: Making Lobster Island. And right now we’re offering it at 30% off – making it only US$17.50!
We hope this year will be the one where you make that project happen, go shoot that idea, or finally print your work as you’ve always wanted to. And this tutorial will help you get there. It covers everything from coming up with the idea, taking the shots, putting together the website, and getting the book printed!
Plus you get to come behind the scenes with us, and hear the stories of our project that are only in the book! Extra fun!
The sale is on now and ends April 2nd at 11:59 PM PST, so check it out now!
The first step is always the hardest, so jump in, now! Click here to learn more about the eBook, and grab your copy and get started!
Well, that wraps it up for today! We hope you’ll check out the Lobster Island website, and if you enjoy it, grab one of the last copies of our fine art book!
Then take a peek at How We Did It: Lobster Island for help in doing a documentary project of your own. We spent some time yesterday re-watching the videos, and looking at the photos we created, and couldn’t stop smiling. It was an adventure we will never forget, and that’s why we are photographers – for those kinds of experiences.
We hope you’ll have some great ones of your own this year, and that we’ll be able to help you get there!
Happy photographing!
