Lightroom Processing Start to Finish

Updated on March 17, 2020 by Lauren Lim

Post-processing is a critical topic for any digital photographer to study. You need to understand just what tools are available to you, and how they affect your photos.

But perhaps the most tricky aspect of post-processing isn’t how to use the tools. What’s most challenging is determining when to use which ones and why!

See, the trick is that editing is most powerful when it’s being used to enhance your message. This isn’t a one-button press kind of deal. It involves thinking about the intention of your photo, and then using post-processing to help communicate that.

And you know what? That’s what makes post-processing really fun! It’s not about randomly making adjustments. It’s about connecting with your audience through your image!

When you’re first getting started with post-processing it can be hard to know where to start, and how different adjustments affect the way your viewer interprets your image. So to help you along we’ve recorded the process of editing a photo, start to finish, so you can see which decisions we would make and why!

Now check out the video below to get inside our brain, and see post-processing in action! watch-now

If you enjoyed that video, go and check out our tutorial called Before/After. It is made up of 11 more videos just like that one, that take you through a ton of the different editing tools that Lightroom has for you, and how to use them to transform your photos!
